ANSWER GETS MEDAL! How does sweat help your body stay cool?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Sweating cools you down by reducing the heat from your skin. When you sweat, the sweat needs heat to evaporate. It gets this heat from under the skin. So when it evaporates, it takes the heat with it. This heat is usually taken from the body and that is how you cool down.

Sweating helps you cool down because as the liquid (sweat) evaporates, energy is absorbed from the skin. The body must let loose heat to turn sweat into water vapour. The moist air then blows away, leaving the body cooler.
