Write an equation of the line that passes through the pair of points. (-5,-2) , (3,-1) is 2/8? (-5.8) , (-3,-8) is 0/2?

OpenStudy (raffle_snaffle):

we need to find the slope

OpenStudy (raffle_snaffle):

by doing so we must use point slope formula

OpenStudy (raffle_snaffle):

m=y2-y1/x2-x1

OpenStudy (raffle_snaffle):

after we obtain the slope use point slope formula again to get equation y=mx+b

OpenStudy (raffle_snaffle):

I would show you how to use the point sloope formula but latex isn't working at the moment

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I used the y2 method and got 2/8 for the first one and 0/2 for the second.

OpenStudy (raffle_snaffle):

you should get -8 for the bottom one not 0/2

OpenStudy (raffle_snaffle):

and for the other one should have gotten 1/8
