what is the human genome?

OpenStudy (wolfe8):

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Human_genome It's the genetic info humans have.

OpenStudy (liddoislander):

can you put it in a sentence? Idk how to rephrase it PLEASE

OpenStudy (wolfe8):

Well, how would you say it's the genetic info of human beings? That's basically the sentence. Did you check out the link?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The entire set of genes carried by a haploid set of human chromosomes can be considered as the human genome.Well this is the functional /coding part which constitutes a fraction of the genome. Most of the human genome is made up of Junk DNA which does not contain genes and thus does not code for proteins , however it has other important functions

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The complete heriditary information of an organism is called genome (applicable to human too). It includes both the genes and the non-coding sequences of the DNA.
