OpenStudy (ashleyisakitty):

JK, KL, and LJ are all tangent to circle O. If JA=8, AL=7 and CK=10, what is the perimeter of JKL?

OpenStudy (ashleyisakitty):

OpenStudy (nincompoop):

tangent is the point where a line touches a curve

OpenStudy (nincompoop):

circle has the same length at all points from the center, so the first assumption would be that the triangle is equilateral

OpenStudy (ashleyisakitty):

The perimeter is 50. thank you.

OpenStudy (compassionate):

Good going, @nincompoop :)

OpenStudy (nincompoop):

at some point, this assumption will be wrong, but that means for a circle to be inscribed in a triangle and would touch at three points would have to be drawn from an incenter of a triangle
