What is the role of the Krebs Cycle? Major difference between aerobic and anaerobic respiration? What is the organelle of respiration in the cell? Role of electron transport chain?
1- The function of the Krebs cycle is to break down citric acid and transfer energy to the electron transport chain. 2- Aerobic: 1. occurs in presence of oxygen. 2. CO2 and water is produced 3. lot of energy is liberated Anaerobic: 1. occurs in absence of oxygen 2. Lactic Acid or alcohol is produced 3. relatively small energy is liberated 3- The organelle within a cell that performs cellular respiration is the mitochondria. The mitochondria is found in most eukaryotic cells. Its main job is conversion of energy. 4- The purpose is to use an electrochemical gradient to generate chemical energy in the form of ATP.
