For the users experiencing the issue of not being able to render LaTeX. Note: This is just a temporary fix, until the developers of OpenStudy fix the issue. (This add-on will only show \(\LaTeX\) for you and anyone else who has the add-on.)
Step 1: Go to chrome://extensions Step 2: Check developer mode. Step 3: Drag and drop with extension. Step 4: Enable. Step 5: Yay, LaTeX.
For the developers of OpenStudy. When a user makes a request to http://openstudy.com/javascripts/modernizr-2.5.3.min.js the server response if 404. Same issue when the user tries to request for LaTeX.
Please add something for firefox too..
Yup, I'm working on that :-P.
@LastDayWork I am a bit tired to create a direct extension which works in Firefox so I created a UserScript. Just use GreaseMonkey to enable it. Once you have installed GreaseMonkey, go here: https://userscripts.org/scripts/show/292613 Click install. Enjoy LaTeX on OpenStudy :-). GreaseMonkey from the Firefox add-on store: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/greasemonkey/ (UserScript works on all browsers that support GreaseMonkey).
I can use equations now; but they are centre aligned (instead of left). But the major problem is -
(contd..) this happens every time I make a post forcing me to refresh the page.
That's a problem, I don't have that issue O.o... Well do you have to refresh or can you just click to another question and come back?
Either of the two works..
But I can't make two posts one after the other.
I'm going to try and look into something to fix your issue. (I think it's not recognising you hit post due to modernizr-2.5.3.min.js not being loaded.)
I can't comment on that ^^ :P No hurry, you can do it sometime later.
Thank you Opcode, im in chrome, with the extension, i can write equations, but i can't draw. what should i do?
I don't know what script actually has any correlation to the draw tool, I suspect it's the modernizr-2.5.3.min.js, which I am trying to get it working. Hopefully I'll have it figured out soon.
thank you again.
@LastDayWork Check to see if the lastest update to the UserScript fixes your issue. (I still can't get the draw tool to work for me, but I think I may have fixed the post not being cleared, after posting.)
@Opcode I tried using chrome; this is what I got -
Okay try it now: https://userscripts.org/scripts/show/292613 This update should fix your issue of the post not clearing, and add back in the function of the draw tool. (I hope.) (As for the Chrome extension, I haven't modified anything to it yet.)
Post is still not getting cleared. Equation and Draw is working perfectly. :)
@c0decracker might want to take a look at this because of the 404 url. Might help with seeing what went wrong.
"You downloaded this, you better know what it does. Permissions Visit website ID: odepmcicojllkbfmdgbopbcnkilgkhce" If it wasn't you I would've killed it with fire. Thanks!
Awesome work :D Unfortunately most of the people who don't use this won't be able to see \(\LaTeX\) so the dev team should fix this problem as soon as possible, same for the equation and draw buttons.
True. Unless the people I am helping have this, there's no point of me using it.
Thank you. @Opcode
Maybe the OS admins should advertise this feed till they find a permanent solution.
\(\Huge It doesn't~Work!\)
^^ Is that sarcasm ??
Yahh it works now!!!!!!!!
No it \(\Huge Works~Now!\)
but my post in my chat box does not clear I have to refresh everytime @Opcode @LastDayWork
I know; it's sort of a temporary solution. So, don't use the script unless you're working with LaTeX.
okay
thxs
:)

As has been pointed out earlier, this only fixes your own display, not that of anyone else. The poor sod reading what you've written still gets all of the LaTeX formatting stuff. The lack of any status updates, much less a solution, is very unprofessional. One wonders what the engineering team is busy doing, if fixing these problems is not regarded as sufficiently high priority!
Actually, they are working on it and there was an update by Preetha in one of the other posts. She was out of the country and not online for a bit. As she acts as the face and voice of the company in many respects, this caused a delay in a status update.
Yes. Working on it and a status update does not mean it is fixed.
No, no. Good to clarify. I hope it gets fixed soon too!
I added a notation so people know this is just a temporary fix. :-). Sorry for the confusion.
Great stuff Opcode.
\[\color{red}{\large \text{OpenStudy developers have fixed the problem!}}\] \[\color{red}{\text{No more use for this add-on or UserScript, you can all delete it :-P}}\]
Yes, last night's update was a nice and friendly update.
