The lengths of the three sides of a triangle (not necessarily a right triangle) are 2.21 meters, 6.59 meters and 4.47 meters. What is the cosine of the angle opposite the side of length 4.47 meters? cos theta=?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

first you make a sketch triangle the theta is the angle opposite the side of length 4.47 meters cosign means adjacent/hypotenuse hypotenuse is the longest side which is the 6.59 m then the adj is 2.21 the formula would be cosign theta = adjacent over the hypotenuse cosign theta = 2.21/ 6.59 ((in scientific calculator )theta = cosign^-1 (2.21/6.59) theta= 70.41 degree
