heyy well we know that because M is the midpoint, XM and MZ are the same lengths right? also, they give us two lengths. XY: 3.5 cm and XM: 5 cm (which makes MZ 5 cm too) . So basically if you add XY+YM it would equal XM so 5-3.5 = 1.5 as the length of YM. Cheers :)
