HELP 2800/m+500

OpenStudy (anonymous):

set equal to 0 2800

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sorry... 2800/m + 500 = 0

OpenStudy (anonymous):

solve for m

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can you explain more

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah sorry figuring it out on paper

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is it 2800/m + 500 or 2800/(m + 500)?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its

OpenStudy (anonymous):

2800 over m+500

OpenStudy (anonymous):

that makes more sense :) one second

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay (:

OpenStudy (anonymous):

alright heres what we do... multiply out the denominator 2800 -------- = 0 m + 500 2800 = m + 500 solve 2300 = m

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i dont get it lol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

to get something out of a denominator of a fraction, we need to multiply the fraction by the denominator, and we totally cancel it out. whatever we do to one side of the equation we do to the other, so we multiply the other side by m + 500. Then we subtract 500 from both sides to get m by itself

OpenStudy (anonymous):

im confuzzled lol. okay. i think i get it a little.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

:) tell me where you are confused

OpenStudy (anonymous):

im confused about everythig haha. sorry. math isnt my best subject.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its ok :) what do you do to make 1/2 into 1?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wait wait wait. i get it now lol. i used the calculator and i get it. haha thank you ! !

OpenStudy (anonymous):
