First you have to multiply x^(1/4) into the parenthesis. This can be done by adding the exponents. 2x^1 - x^1/2 Does that make sense to you?

I understand what your saying but the fraction part of the equation is hard to understand.

im not understanding how the 3/4 turned into 1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

3/4 = 0.75 1/4 = 0.25

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ohhh, okay. I see now

And for the second term, x^(0.25 + 0.25) = x^0.5 = x^(1/2)

Okay, I understand now. Thank you so much
