ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

when u do the division : x/a x is called dividend a is called divisor

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

u familiar wid synthetic division ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Not really, I'm just really confused on this problem. On my homework, this is the only problem like this..

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

look at top row

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

forget the first number

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

in synthetic division, top row gives u divisor and dividend

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

gimme a sec, il attach a pic may be

That'd be great! Thank you for helping too btw

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

red field is divisor green fields are dividend

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

3 -4 2 -1 3x^3 - 4x^2 + 2x - 1

Oh that makes more sense now.

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

good :) the given table is just a simple synthetic division setup. synthetic division is easy and very useful, u should master it someday :)
