If cos= adjacent/ hypotenuse... when would these be opposite? confused?

OpenStudy (usukidoll):

you mean secant? secant = 1 / cos x

OpenStudy (usukidoll):

we have sinx cosx tanx csc x = 1/sinx sec x = 1/cosx tanx = sinx /cos x

OpenStudy (usukidoll):

so if cos x in a triangle is 5/6 so adjacent is 5 and hypothenuse is 6 sec x is 6/ 5 sec x = hypothenuse/adjacent
