Can someone help me with Geometry A Polygons and Quadrilaterals?

What is the problem?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Find values of x and y which ABCD must be a parallelogram. The diagram is not to scale.

Ok. It's a little hard to tell, but I assume those equations are all for the length of the inner lines.

What do you know about parallelograms that can help you solve this?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

One trick when you're given a problem like this, is to think about what you know already.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What do you know already about parallelograms?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

as the diagonals of a parallelogram bisect each other 1. 2x-2=x+2 => 2x-x=2+2 => x=4 2. 5y-8=y+24 => 5y-y=24+8 => 4y=32 => y=8

Does anyone here encourage self learning? Or do people just give answers to problems?
