Now think about this same question in relation to the War on Terror that began after the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. Are there any similarities between the treatment of German Americans during WWI and the treatment of Islamic Americans and Arab Americans after 9/11?

I can't really help you with your essay, but I can help you with the similarities.
In America, whenever we see the Arabs now we automatically see terrorists. In WWII, they judged everyone on how they looked. Like the Jews and every other religion. They had gold stars and basically we singled them out, and right after 9/11 we singled out the Arab Americans just people they wear hijabs, just like the Germans did to anyone who wasn't the "Aryan race" They judged them, except for WWII's case killed them. If you google "Defence for Hijabs" you can find any article and youtube video showing peoples reactions to HIjabs and just how we treat them in general.
