you see that when x(minutes) is zero the cost is 18, this is the value of the connecting fee

right.. the function for the total cost is something like this: t(x)=mx+0.18
m is the slope of the line and x is the number of minutes

slope is change in y over change in x, the graph shows the when x increases by 2, y increases by 1, then our slope is 1/2

the functions becomes t(x) = x/2+0.18
