For each call, a certain phone company charges a connecting fee, and then a cost per minute after that. How much does each call's connecting fee cost?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@lucaz

OpenStudy (lucaz):

ok, that helps

OpenStudy (lucaz):

you see that when x(minutes) is zero the cost is 18, this is the value of the connecting fee

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok so it would be 0.18

OpenStudy (lucaz):

right.. the function for the total cost is something like this: t(x)=mx+0.18 m is the slope of the line and x is the number of minutes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok

OpenStudy (lucaz):

slope is change in y over change in x, the graph shows the when x increases by 2, y increases by 1, then our slope is 1/2

OpenStudy (lucaz):

the functions becomes t(x) = x/2+0.18

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so i solve it

OpenStudy (lucaz):

yeah, the problem was just to find the connecting fee, I didn't notice that =P

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh
