Quadrilateral ABCD is a parallelogram with AB = 3y – 6, BC = 5x – 8, CD = 2y + 4, and AD = 4x –1. Find x

y = 10, x = 7 Considering the following

Sorry i cant draw, but considering AB faces CD and BC faces AD, which is quite obvious. :/

See, in a parallelogram, two sides facing each other are always equal and they are always parallel. If ABCD is the quadrilateral (parallelogram) then http://www.kidsmathgamesonline.com/images/pictures/shapes/parallelogram.jpg The sides facing each other (parallel sides) will have to be equal. Therefore if AB = 3y-6, and CD = 2y + 4, then they have to be equal, just equate it. http://www.kidsmathgamesonline.com/images/pictures/shapes/parallelogram.jpg Look at the images for reference :)
