"Now think about this same question in relation to the War on Terror that began after the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. Are there any similarities between the treatment of German Americans during WWI and the treatment of Islamic Americans and Arab Americans after 9/11?" Is the prompt.. I know. That The TREATMENT was horrible... but i can't just right that.. an d also there was a lot of sterotyping

Which two eras?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ww1 & 9/11 so 2001

OpenStudy (anonymous):

This is what i'm going to start out with. "Yes, There was many differently similarities between the German-Americans and Islamic Americans and Arab Americans, A lot of Americans were being rude and prejudice because of what went on. The German-Americans came over here to start a new life, They did not agree with what was going on in Germany, But Americans didn't think like that, they felt since they were Germans, that they were evil people.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yeah, thats good :) The Germans were looked down upon or something because of WW1. No one wanted anything to do with them since they owed a debt to the united states, france and britain. since 9/11, islamic americans and arab americans (sorry i don't mean to offend) tend to be looked at as "terrorists" because of what happened in 9/11 and the other terrorist attacks that we've had in the united states from arab/islamic americans. The Americans felt that the both of them were evil people.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Is that the only thing that can be compared? other than treatment of them?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

NEVERMIND... its about treatment lol :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

lol its fine :P

OpenStudy (anonymous):

But isnt there something else.. Could they get jobs? without anyone discriminating?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Here are some facts for you to include in your paper in regards to German Americans during the WWI era. German Americans did not want the US to involved in the war. They wanted the US to stay neutral in war. Because of them not agreeing President Roosevelt spoke out against the German Americans and basically caused Americans to not like them. Orchestras refused to play music from composers such as Beethoven because he was German. The "german measles" were changed and called the "liberty measles" Street names that had german references were changed. Most German stores were vandalized and some even burned. Most stores refused to even sell food or goods that came from Germany. People refused to buy from german farmers. They were killed or beaten for no reason.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

They probably wouldn't be able to get jobs without any discrimination. The Americans would probably do some horrible things, they would probably think the Germans and the "terrorists" would possibly try to strike again.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I also know that a lot of Germans changed their name and even appearance to not look German so they wouldn't be discriminated against or killed.
