I'm doing a project on opposing sides of women's rights around 1920. What are some arguments of why women should and should not have rights?
Okay some reasons that people believed women should have times is because African Americans had the rights that women didn't which seemed unfair because most women protesting were white females. Furthermore, the quote "all men are created equal" women's right heavily used the quote for their side. Moreover, they argued that women are too citizens and should have the right to vote because government is ruled by the people and women were part of that. Also you need to realize that the 1920's were a time where women were stepping out of traditional roles working for careers like men and just ultimately trying to act like men in the work ethic sense. Additionally, because women were stepping out of their traditional roles people didn't like that all because people believe women were meant to be that "stay at home mom" and shouldn't be working after they have their kids and what not. Overall the main dislike against womens rights was the whole traditional role thing, you could also bring the Bible into the argument where it says the men are meant to be the provider and women are suppose to be the nurturing presences.
Hope that helps !:)
thanks
