what is the difference between mass and weight?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Weight is the force an object experiences in a gravitational field. It is mass times the acceleration due to gravity. Mass is the amount of stuff that an object is made of. [ Some of the mass of an object comes from the coupling of elementary fermions to the Higgs field, and the vast majority of it is actually from the 4-momentum transferred in binding interactions (mostly QCD) ]
