Help me? (csc y + cot y)(csc y - cot y)/csc y

OpenStudy (anonymous):

1. FOIL the numerator: csc ^2 y - csc y cot y + csc y cot y - cot ^2 y / csc y 2. The csc y cot y subtracts out, leaving us: csc^2 y - cot ^2 y / csc y 3. The numerator is an identity, which equals 1: 1 / csc y 4. This is a reciprocal identity, which becomes: sin y Does this help?

its cot^2 . Try writing out the csc(theta) and Cot(theta) and Sec(theta) in terms on sin and cos theta... it helps alot...
