this is what my teacher gave me:

TOne is what the author portrays TO the reader, through his/her attitude, thus causing Me, the reader, to feel a certain Mood. I gave an example in one of my pieces, that said something like an author might project an attitude (TONE) of dispair, thus causing me to feel a (MOOD) of hopelessness or depression from the story.
