Okay, so I feel like I almost know how to do this problem, but than all the fancy terms make me confused. I attached a picture below so it's visible. It'd be great if someone could give me a step by step as I have to do a ton of these problems. Thanks!

I get the concept of a problem like Find f(2) of etc etc... The (f o g) part is what's confusing for me

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

(f o g)(2) is same as : f( g(2) )

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

start by finding g(2) first

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

g(x) = 4x + 9 g(2) = ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

g(2)=17 Yay first part done

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

(f o g)(2) f( g(2) ) f( 17 )

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

now compute f(17), then we will be done wid (f o g)(2) part fully :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh! Wait, do I put f(17) into the 1/x part?

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

yes !

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

put 17 in 1/x part

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

(f o g)(2) f( g(2) ) f( 17 ) 1/17

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

^^

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ah okay! So for when it says find (f+g)(2) I just take the two values I found and add them together?

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

(f+g)(2) f(2) + g(2)

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

find f(2), find g(2) add them both

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Gotcha. You are a genius! Thanks :D

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

lol no, you're super smart :)

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

u wlc :)
