You will need initial velocities u = V cos @ v = V sin @ the height h = 1.7 + v t - (1/2) (9.8) t^2 the horizontal distance s = ut and you have to combine these to make a basket. Try a graph at least to understand what the trajectories look like, if not to get exact V.
