@whpalmer4

OpenStudy (nikato):

1st one is 53 root 2

OpenStudy (nikato):

because its a 30 60 90 triangle, AG=97. 149-97=52 so BA=52 and since its a 45 45 90 triangle CA= 52 root 2

OpenStudy (nikato):

the second is 83 root 2 its hard to explain without drawing it, but this might help understand http://www.regentsprep.org/Regents/math/algtrig/ATT2/Ltri30.htm

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

@nikato answer for the second one is not 83 root 2...that would imply that the base is also 83 root 2, and for that to be true, the angle would have to be 45 degrees, not 60.

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

Sin is opposite / hypotenuse, so sin 60 degrees = x/166 166 * sin 60 degrees = x 166 * sqrt(3)/2 = x 83 sqrt (3) = x

OpenStudy (nikato):

Oops, yea. 83 root 3. Typo
