Please help? Idk how to solve this :\ can someone show me how? I got 2 - ? + ? so far. Evaluate x^1 - x^-1 + x^0 for x = 2.
Assuming that I'm interpreting your question correctly, its form is \[x-x ^{-1} + x ^{0}.\] Note that x^0 = 1. Substituting 2 for x and x^(-1), we get \[(2) + (2)^{-1 }+1=?\] Please present your questions using the Equation Editor if you can; it's so much clearer and easier to read.
Oh ok, sorry my equation editor isn't working correctly. And yes you are right on how I meant the equation to be interpreted. I have a question though. Is any number to the zero power 1? and is the solution 3.5?
Yes to both questions! Good going.
Haha, thanks! I am in cyber school and I haven't got a grip on the negative exponents and zero power yet but now I think I know :) Thank you again!
My great pleasure! C u again on OpenStudy.
