geometry/math question stuck

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

the problem is that ED isn't shown on the diagram.

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

is there another diagram... ?

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

ok... that makes sense... so are you stuck from d onwards...

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

ok... I really don't get d.... as to what ED is called... but the next section on slopes is straight forward... so the slope of AB = change in y's/change in x's using (1, 6) and ((5, 0) so m = (6 - 0)/(1 -5) then m = 6/-4 the slope of AB = -3/2 or -1.5 now for ED the points are (1, 3) and (3, 0) m = (3 -0)/(1 -3) so m = -3/2 or -1.5 and the relation ship is that AB and ED have the same slope so, are parallel. hope it helps

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

just found it...ED is called the mid segment here is a link explaining it http://www.mathopenref.com/trianglemidsegment.html

Thanks so much! This really helps! I suck at math lol...
