as gen no. = n, 4th gen would naturally be 2*4 = 8. 
similarly in gen 10, 2*10 = 20
Now in zero gen, 0 people, 1st gen 2 people, 2nd gen 4 people and 3rd gen 6 people
add them you get 12 people.
