Nancy is very happy with the service at the hotel she is staying in. She wants to tip the room service waiter 15 percent of the food bill, which is $120.75. How much should she tip?
so what's the first step?
first thing you do (let's do this the quick and short way, my favorite) what is 15% as a decimal? as a decimal, 15% is .15 so to find out what 15% of 120.75 is, do use the equation 0.15 * 120.75 = x x = the amount you will tip him
$12 $18 $24 These are the answers im not sure about the steps though thats all the question asked lol
so x = 18.113 that's closet to 18 so you will tip the waiter $18
Thanks @shoplovepc

I do it opposite way, but get same answer. I take the amount of the bill, let's say it is 120.75, enter 120.75 x 15% on your calculator. There is a percentage button on it.
