!!! One Medal Question !!!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The diagram in the attachment shows details of a "hole punch" being used to make holes in leather. When the handle is pulled down the pin is forced into the leather. The handle applies a moment , or turning effect, about the pivot. Calculate the size of this moment (in N cm).

Moment is simply the product of the force by the distance to the pivot.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@doc.brown can you help please i would really appreciate it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

:)

OpenStudy (doc.brown):

There is a clue in the question. N cm means Newtons times centimeters.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so is it 15cm*50N

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@doc.brown do you mind answering: State two ways in which the moment could be increased

OpenStudy (anonymous):

medal+fan

OpenStudy (doc.brown):

You have two variables 15cm and 50N, you are getting a moment by multiplying them together.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

which is 750 thnx
