Help?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

4x contains the variable to solve for, move it to the left-hand side of the equation by subtracting 4x from both sides. 9x-46-4x=-16 Since 9x and -4x are like terms, add -4x to 9x to get 5x 5x-46=-16 -46 doesnt contain the variable to solve so move it to the rightside of the equation by adding 46 to both sides 5x=46-16 Subtract 16 from 46 to get 30 5x=30 Divide each term in the equation by 5 5x/5 = 30/5 simplify x=30/5 divide x=6 x=6
