How do i build up pecs only.../?

Pectoral muscles are used to pull your arms together, for example stick your arms out straight in front of you and clap - your pecs are doing most of the work to create that action. Generally to build muscle size you need to use weights, heavy weights with a low amount of reps, pushups work on your triceps and shoulder muscles, although they'll have some benefit to your pecs they wont target that area. I'd personally advise getting hold of some dumb bells (hand weights) if you want to work your pecs. Lie on your back holding the dumb bells in both hands and slowly, keeping your arms fairly straight (but without locking your elbows) lift the dumb bells until you are holding them together above your chest, then lower them. Ideally your looking for a weight where you can manage to do this at least six or seven times but can't manage ten times. Rest for a minute or two, then repeat three times. Do this every other day (one day off to allow your muscles to repair) until your pecs reach the size you want, then scale back on the weight by a couple of KG's and do a lot more reps, this will build up the definition of the pecs. Alternatively if you belong to a gym use a resistence or weight machine and ask one of the trainers to show you how to properly do a routine called a 'Pec Dec Fly' Finally, remember to warm up properly and if you suffer any pain whilst performing the exercise stop immediatly. You can always hire a personal trainer for a one off session to run you through exercises and show you how to perform them properly.
