Find the solutions of the equation? Having troubles doing this problem: 27x^3 = (x+5)^3 The final answer should be 5/2, -25/26 +- 15/26 sqrt(3i), I am just not sure how to go about doing the problem.

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

hint : 27 = 3^3

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

after you find the first root (5/2) using @ganeshie8's hint, expand the polynomial and divide it by (x-5/2) to get a simpler polynomial which will have the two complex roots
