330 degrees is the same as 11pi/6 radians. It's in quadrant 4 of the unit circle, under the x-axis by 30 degrees (or pi/6 radians). This is a 30-60-90 triangle with the opposite side measuring -1 and the adjacent side measuring sqrt(3). tan(330) = opposite/adjacent = -1/sqrt(3) Or -3^(-1/2) if you prefer it with exponents.
