MEDAL Please Help me with this? Pretend you are watching the weather channel on television. The meteorologist tells you that there is tropical cyclone activity building in the Caribbean Sea and moving towards Cuba. What kind of cyclone this would be. How do we know?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caribbean_Sea

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (rose21):

not so sure about the how though sorry

Keywords "Caribbean sea" if you look at the second link it says "Northern Hemisphere". The first link tells you which cyclones for which hemisphere.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

tropical cyclone?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well , I'm going to look around and see if they can be considered tropical cyclones. But a direct quote from the first link: "In the northern hemisphere, where cyclones occur in the Atlantic Ocean and Caribbean, they are called hurricanes"

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A tropical cyclone is a rapidly-rotating storm system characterized by a low-pressure center, strong winds, and a spiral arrangement of thunderstorms that produce heavy rain.

The question didn't give enough information to determine that. So I would personally go with hurricane. But do a google search to confirm it. Goodluck.

ok thanks
