im not sure how to test this, but i could guess a few things.
1) the weeds adapted to the repellant, and thus became resistant
2) mroe weeds were growing
3) the repellant wasnt strong enough.


u should take one, and formulate your own experiment, or even make your own hypothesis.

I'd go for the first point the above person stated, the same case happens with the mosquitoes, you might have seen how using a same repellent for a very long time leads to mosquitoes becoming resistant to the repellent and repellent fails..i guess the same case study would lead to the right hypothesis
