What makes Odysseus an epic hero? What are his qualities and flaws? Why is Odysseus considered to be an archetype?
okay so you need them in sentences?
yah
gotcha hold on
Thanks
1.Odysseus fought gloriously on behalf of the Greeks in Troy and was considered a "war hero" of sorts because of it. But he became to full of himself and did not give the Gods credit for helping him. That is why he was punished by Poseidon. He bravely endured Poseidon's punishment and in the end learned that Man is nothing without the Gods. So I guess that makes him a hero, that he endured so much and learned a valuable lesson in the end.
2. Odysseus is one of the most interesting characters of the Classical Period because he is the most intelligent. Aeolus gives him a sack of wind to help him on his way because he is, so far as he can tell, the only man to use his brain. He is clever--if somewhat roguish--which makes him especially interesting to modern readers when compared to the less "modern"--hence, less interesting--of his contemporaries. His flaws involve his humanity, mostly involving his pride
3.An "archetypal" character is the first of its kind; the structural basis from which future characters are based. Odysseus was, in many ways, the archetypal heroic figure; his adventures he undertook and qualities he possessed set the framework for future generations of characters in epics.
