An integer is a number that can be written without a fractional or decimal component. For example, 21, 4, and −2048 are integers; 9.75, 5½, and √2 are not integers

Think of integers are counting numbers (both positive and negative versions)
So 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, etc are integers and so are the negative counterparts (-1, -2, -3, etc)
OpenStudy (anonymous):
ok
jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):
You can easily have 12 people in room for instance, but you cannot have 12.4 people in a room (you can't have 0.4 of a person)
jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):
Since 0.4 of a person is not a whole person
OpenStudy (anonymous):
hmmm, so -3.8 ?
