For an American History project, Allyson wants to show the number of electoral votes given to each of the 50 states in presidential elections. Those electoral votes range from 3 to 47. She is trying to show the very large differences between the number of electoral votes assigned to different states. What type of display do you think Allyson should use to show the data? Explain how she could display the data and why this would be an appropriate display for her purposes. Hint: There is more than one display that would be acceptable. Just be sure to justify your answer!

Put the numbers inside the state boundaries in a map of the US. Change colors for 0-10, 11-20, 21-30,...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It's a good way for displaying information like that. A spreadsheet would also work.

So since there are a wide range of electoral votes, a bar graph would be used because it groups the numbers together by state ?

OpenStudy (poopsiedoodle):

Exactly :D

Okay, thank you so much! ^-^
