Multiply everything by 4 to get a-2=5a

Sure. When you first simplify your problem, you use the distributive property, which is how I got 1/4a - 2 = 5a.
oops, I did the second part wrong though. You multiply everything by 4 to get a - 8 = 20a.

Then, subtract a from both sides to get 19a = -8. Then, just divide by 19.
