OpenStudy (rea201):

Is a credit in college for the whole year or a semester? Like in highschool 1 credit is for a whole year.

OpenStudy (compassionate):

A course credit is a unit that gives weighting to the value, level or time requirements of an academic course taken at a school or other educational institution. It goes on your record forever. You need a total amount of credits to obtain certain degrees. Some degrees or fields require specific credits. One credit is for life. Likewise, in high school, you require a certain amount of credits to move up grades. College doesn't have grades, we have degrees. If you want a certain degree, you'll need credits in that field. Super simple stuff. :-)

OpenStudy (kainui):

@Compassionate That was probably the worst answer I've ever seen. There's no reason to take college this seriously. @Rea201 When you get to college, every semester is like a brand new school year, so every half year you get to relax and start fresh without feeling like all the stuff built up from the last half of the year is hovering over your head.

OpenStudy (compassionate):

It's the correct answer.

OpenStudy (kainui):

I'm not saying it's wrong.

OpenStudy (aaronq):

"Is a credit in college for the whole year or a semester?" it depends what school/country you go to, unless you specify that you'll be left with mixed responses.
