What are three Similarities between a Sweet Sixteen and Quinceanera?
Medal, Fan, and Testimonial!!!
It's for a girl, It's a celebration of coming of age, and it's a birthday.
Well, to start off, a "sweet 16" is celebrated on a girl's 16th birthday. The word "quince" means "fifteen," in Spanish. So, a quinceañera is actually celebrated on a girl's 15th birthday, and not her 16th. Latin-American countries are the ones that celebrate la quinceañera. Obviously because they're the Spanish-speaking countries. On the other hand, the Sweet Sixteen is celebrated mainly in the United States, and in Canada. But those two events, the Sweet Sixteen, and la Quinceañera, revolve around the same purpose. They are both meant to celebrate a girl's transition, from girlhood into womanhood. What that means is that on a girl's 16th birthday (in America) or on a girl's 15th birthday (in Spanish speaking countries) it is the first day in her life, that the girl is considered a woman.
Haha damn @nationruler you went all out on this answer haha
:D thanks
Thank you for your answer @LilliBelle but I guess I should have specified my need a bit more.. I need to know like what traditional/non-traditional things are celebrated by both birthdays. And @nationruler one sec. I'm still reading lol
XD
Thank you:) @nationruler and @LilliBelle thanks, you were helpful too!
your welcome
Oh darn that's sort of only one similarity though @nationruler If you can give me two more. I will give you an awesome testimonial. Unless someone else can give me examples??
Traditions for Quinceañeras consist of candle lighting at a church, the last doll which symbolizes the last toy of her childhood, the shoe ceremony where they replace the flat with a heel, and the dance between mother and daughter as well as the dance between father and daughter. Another tradition is wearing a pink dress. In Latin American countries, there is typically a church service that they attend where they talk about women and the coming of age. Traditions for Sweet Sixteens vary because there are many different ethnic backgrounds. However, they run around the same lines. However, Quinceañeras are what girls in Latin and South America dream of. When I asked Camila Hernandez when she started to dream of her Quinceañera, she said that she started to dream of her perfect party when she was thirteen.
Similarities: Both Sweet Sixteen's and Quinceanera's are meant to mark a certain point in a female's life. That "point" being the first day they are considered a woman. However, both celebrations are meant to honor a girl on her birthday. Differences: A quinceanera is celebrated differently from any other birthday, as it marks the transition from childhood to young womanhood. Sweets Sixteen birthdays are used to characterize a girl's prettiness and innocence. When a Latin American girl turns fifteen she celebrates her Quinceanera, and a Sweet Sixteen is used to observe an American girl on her sixteenth birthday. Most Quinceanera's are formal, and planned well, while some Sweet Sixteen's can be very casual and modest. Here's what I already have........
does that answer ur question?
Sorry not really :( I need two similarities not two differences.
ok let me try again
okay
They both have the traditional shoe ceremony where a girl changes from flats to heels .They both wear ball gowns.
not necessarily in some cases a girl does not wear a ball gown at her sweet sixteen
@buckeyfan73 that's what I was thinking.. Because sometimes a Sweet Sixteens can be very casual, such as just spending time with family and friends, or going to a restaurant. @nationruler I am really thankful that you are still trying to help me though:)
let me try to find another one XD

yess!! It's so much harder than I first imagined it:(
Both quinceanera and sweet sixteen birthday parties can be exorbitant. A family will usually save up to give their daughter an elaborate quinceanera, which can often cost as much as a wedding party. Teenagers from non-Hispanic cultures are having an increased interest in having quinceanera-style sweet sixteen birthday parties, and party planners are often hired for such events. Some parents also hire dance instructors to teach their daughters special moves to dazzle the audience at a quinceanera or sweet sixteen party. Many young women prefer monetary gifts rather than having a sweet sixteen party, which is also true of quinceaneras. Some teenagers might want a new car to get around as opposed to a lavish party. There are many cultural and religious traditions to be found in the quinceaneras, but these have evolved over time. A sweet sixteen or quinceanera party of years past indicated that a woman was of marriageable age, but today emphasis is placed on developing academic and life skills. Some teenagers have opted for less extravagant quinceaneras parties to set aside money for college.
Okay, now sum that up into a couple sentences please :))
haha
kiddingXD Thank you soooo much! really helpful:D
One last thing.. @nationruler are you a boy or girl? Need to know for the testimonial.. I'm assuming male right?
yes he is a male
ima guy
okay:) thanks again! Def tagging you in the future!

So this is my final edited paragraph.. @nationruler and @buckeyfan73 + anyone else.. if you notice any errors please let me know.
A Quinceanera is celebrated differently from any other birthday, as it marks the transition from childhood to young womanhood. Sweet Sixteen birthdays are used to characterize a girl's prettiness and innocence. Most Quinceanera's are formal, and planned well, while some Sweet Sixteen's can be very casual and modest. Many young women prefer monetary gifts rather than having a Sweet Sixteen party, which is also true of Quinceaneras. Quinceanera celebration dances can be mainly formal, and traditional dances such as the waltz, while Sweet Sixteen birthdays support more modern dancing, and partying. However, both Sweet Sixteen's and Quinceanera's are meant to mark a certain point in a female's life. That "point" being the first day they are considered a woman. And both birthday parties are meant to observe and honor girls when they reach that certain age.
