What does "raise per week" mean? @satellite73

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no idea, i never knew anyone who got a raise every week

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What's the question?

OpenStudy (calculusxy):

well there is this question where: Henry earns $530 dollars per week and Jose earns 30% more than Henry does. They both recieve $70 raise per week, so how much will Jose be earning?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

most times in an equation it means how much aperson got every week

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it means that henry now earns $600 per week

OpenStudy (calculusxy):

how did you get $600 ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and 30% more than $580 is $754 so the other guy now makes $824 per week

OpenStudy (calculusxy):

No that was not correct though

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i added $70 to $530

OpenStudy (anonymous):

that is because i made a mistake

OpenStudy (calculusxy):

but what would you do to the percent then? since it's a raise, don't you do 1.30

OpenStudy (anonymous):

30% more than 530 is 530*1.3=689 add 70 to that

OpenStudy (calculusxy):

689+70=759. isnt the answer that?
