I will give you a medal if you help me!! I really need some guidance doing this essay.
In the short story, "The Cask of Amontillado," the reader is never told what the exact insult was that caused Montresor to seek revenge against Fortunato. Write to tell what happened before the story begins in "The Cask of Amontillado." Please help me out on brain storming!!

I always hated and loved assignments like this. They seem limiting, but sometimes working within restrictions allows for the most creativity. Montresor is clearly unstable. The "injury" could have been something as simple as Fortunato not inviting him to a dinner party or seeming to ignore him when passing on the street. I think that making the insult something ridiculous and harmless would make for a fun and interesting essay.
