Compare and contrast mitosis and meiosis?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Both deal with cell division. Mitosis is asexual reproduction of non-germ cells. This division results in 2 identical cells, including the same number of chromosomes. Mitosis is the basis for cell growth and cellular regeneration.

Meiosis deals with the cell division of gametes. Once cell that undergoes meiosis will result in 4 haploid cells. This is also referred to as sexual reproduction and the cells are not identical.

One cell not once cell.
