OpenStudy (lexy148):

A baseball diamond is actually a square with the bases set at 90 angles. If the bases are 90 feet apart, how far is it from home plate to second base?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Have you drawn a diagram for this? It'll help you see the triangle created.

OpenStudy (lexy148):

yes but i still dont get it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You have a right angle triangle, and you know two sides and all of the angles.

OpenStudy (lexy148):

so would i have to use the 45 45 90 formula to find the missing side

OpenStudy (anonymous):

That's one method, there are many you could use though. You could even use Pythagorean's theorem.

OpenStudy (lexy148):

okay thank you

OpenStudy (lexy148):

and do you know what times what equals square root of 16200

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Do you have a calculator? The sqrt of 16200 is about 127.28

OpenStudy (lexy148):

yeah but my teacher dosnt want decimals

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So then it's about 127 feet.

OpenStudy (lexy148):

oh okay thank you again
