OpenStudy (nerdgamer_):

I need Help With this one

OpenStudy (anonymous):

First, make the denominators the same.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Which makes it 240

OpenStudy (nerdgamer_):

okay

OpenStudy (nerdgamer_):

@PonkaPoe

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

simplify 5 -- = 20 and 9 --- = 12

OpenStudy (nerdgamer_):

okay

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

then multiply the two new fractions that you got :)

OpenStudy (nerdgamer_):

how would you simplify that I absolutely stink at simplifying!

OpenStudy (nerdgamer_):

can you check my work on first one?

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

the first one is correct :) so for 5 -- 20 both 5 and 20 can be divided by 5 right? so 5 divided by 5 = 1 and 20 divided by 5 = 4 therefore 5 1 -- = -- 20 4

OpenStudy (nerdgamer_):

so the answer would be 5 -- 80? 5/80?

OpenStudy (nerdgamer_):

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

mmm not quite :) try simplifying 9 --- 12

OpenStudy (nerdgamer_):

how whould you do that like I said [ how would you simplify that I absolutely stink at simplifying! ]

OpenStudy (nerdgamer_):

@jigglypuff314

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

did you see how I simplified 5/20 last time? so for 9/12 9 and 12 can both be divided by 3 right? what do you get when you divide 9 by 3 = ? 12 divided by 3 = ?

OpenStudy (nerdgamer_):

3 and 4

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

yep! so 9/12 simplified is 3/4
