HELP !! Solve for X .

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (arabpride):

Is there any info about the triangle?? like if it's isosceles or sumffing?? *^.^*

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@arabpride no , my teacher tried to help me but all she could do was tell me it was a geometric mean question .

OpenStudy (arabpride):

Ok OK NP!! *^.^* Well im not 100% sure but if we're gonna solve for X, we have to assume that: 8x = 5x + 3 and that 10x - 2 = 7x This will solve for x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@arabpride where do I go from there ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Hugh?

OpenStudy (arabpride):

sorry abput that i had to log out *^.^* Ill finish thiss now

OpenStudy (anonymous):

?

OpenStudy (arabpride):

well next you have to chose 1 of those 2 equations to work with, 8x = 5x + 3 -5x -5x 3x = 3 /3 /3 x = 1 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ to check that x really does equal one you can try solving the second equation, or pluggin '1' back into the original equation ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ BTW are there any options for what x might be *^.^*

OpenStudy (arabpride):

@Faith_Rochelle

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@arabpride if you plug 1 into the second equation it proves untrue. So it can't be 1 .

OpenStudy (arabpride):

the thing iz im not sure if those measures in the second equation are actually congruent so, i can only assume that they are not, since it didnt come out to be tru

@brando1996 @calculusxy @esshotwired @MathLegend @Mr.ClayLordMath does ANYONE know how to solve this ?
