Get the most current APA manual and use it as a reference. Any aspects that you are unfamiliar with, look up in the index, find the section where it is and read the whole section, not just the part that pertains to what you are doing. This way you don't need to read the whole manual, but the parts that are most commonly used will become more familiar to you. It doesn't come over night. It took me over 2 years to master APA formatting.
