Even if you don't touch a marshmallow to a campfire flame, holding a marshmallow near a flame causes it to toast and turn brown. Why does this happen? Hot air in the atmosphere cooks the marshmallow. Heat radiates from the fire and cooks the marshmallow. Smoke and soot from the fire cause the marshmallow to brown. Dust blowing through the air causes the marshmallow to brown.
Heat radiates from the fire and cooks the marshmallow.
Which of the following is the correct definition of conduction? A. the electromagnetic radiation from the surface of an object which is due to the object's temperature B.the transfer of heat by currents within a liquid or gas C. the transmission of heat across empty space D. the transmission of heat across matter
DO U KNOW HOW TO HELP ME WITH THIS ONE?
con·duc·tion kənˈdəkSHən/Submit noun 1. the process by which heat or electricity is directly transmitted through a substance when there is a difference of temperature or of electrical potential between adjoining regions, without movement of the material.
So is it B?
it is only if i get a medal XD
LOL OK :D
It's not B, I'm doing Study Island, I got it wrong... :(
:O what was it? A?
Nope it was D
Which of the following statements about radiation is true? A. Radiation is the only form of heat transfer that is not experienced on Earth. B. Radiation is the only form of heat transfer that can travel through the vacuum of space. C. Radiation is the only form of heat transfer that is experienced on Earth. D. Radiation is the only form of heat transfer that is unable to travel through the vacuum of space.
That makes no sense. Radiation cooks the marshmallow. Heat is RADIATING off the fire and hitting the conductor (the marshmallow) and cooking it. That's basic physics right there.
It should be B...not D...
thats what i was thinking^
IDK I didn't make the test.... Do you know this one? Which of the following statements about radiation is true? A. Radiation is the only form of heat transfer that is not experienced on Earth. B. Radiation is the only form of heat transfer that can travel through the vacuum of space. C. Radiation is the only form of heat transfer that is experienced on Earth. D. Radiation is the only form of heat transfer that is unable to travel through the vacuum of space.
Really and strongly trying to say B...but a-lot of these answer choices seem sketchy to me.
