can someone help me?? i will give them a medal!

For the following system, if you isolated x in the second equation to use the Substitution Method, what expression would you substitute into the first equation? 3x + y = 8 -x - 2y = -10 A) -2y + 10 B) 2y + 10 3) 2y - 10 4) -2y - 10

OpenStudy (anonymous):

For the first one, y=−3x+8

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i did i think it would be B

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@Nikkeyiboo

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think so too. :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank you can u help me with like 4 more? :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@Nikkeyiboo

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is B right for the first one @mathstudent55

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

The problem ask to isolate x in the second equation. Let's start with the second equation: -x - 2y = -10 First, add 2y to both sides: -x = 2y - 10 Now multiply both sides by -1: x = -2y + 10 Now compare -2y + 10 with the choices.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its gonna be x = 2 + 10

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@mathstudent55

OpenStudy (anonymous):

cause 2 times -1 is 2 and 10 tie 1 is 10

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i mean -2 time -1 is postive 1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hello? @mathstudent55

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

I have no idea what you are doing. I already gave you the answer. x = -2y + 10 Now compare -2y + 10 with the 4 choices. One choice is exactly that. Choose that one. Hint: It's not choices B, C, or D.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ohh okay thank you! @mathstudent55

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can u pease help me with like 6 more please??

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

I have a better idea. Go over this problem as many times as it takes for you to understand it. Then you'll be able to solve similar problems by yourself.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Could I have a medal?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

That's not cool. I wasted my time trying to help and nothing.
